Crane Slaughter

from US$150.00

Second piece of the Onna Bugeisha series

Two Onna Bugeishas settle down for a sushi lunch, the spoils of a previous hunt. But hungry cranes descend, trying to steal their catch. One bird escapes with a fish already, while another swoops down - only to be caught mid-flight by an upward strike that slices through its wing. The fish tumbles from its grasp. A third crane approaches, and the seated Onna meets its gaze, sword still at rest but ready.

This is the second print in a series of women warriors and their encounters with nature - sometimes graceful, sometimes brutal.
