Shan San

from US$150.00

Third piece of the Onna Bugeisha series.

A dancing warrior - based on my friend Shan, my Iaido senpai at Ken Zen - stands over a campfire, roasting what remains of a crane, following Crane Slaughter. She’s captured mid-motion in her festive dance as she looks forward to eating her meat – expressive, strong and on top of the food chain.

Look closely: the back of her Gi bears the koi from the Koi print, connecting her back to the story’s origins.

Part celebration, part aftermath, this print embodies the Onna Bugeisha cycle: powerful women, sword and spirit in balance.
