My very first print, born from a sketch I made over a decade ago. This underwater scene brings together two parts of me — a joyful koi and a pouty, defiant octopus — surrounded by wriggling, spirited creatures in the spirit of Hokusai’s beastly imaginings. There’s a kind of quiet rebellion in this octopus, and I’ve always resonated with her.

Printed using a split fountain gradient roll.

Hand-carved linoleum block, hand-printed in Brooklyn. Limited edition, signed and numbered.
